This works perfectly for all the Spanish dead keys plus the ones in my custom keyboard layout. Thanks a lot!

Why GUI? Just because? You can perfectly draw all you need in a program like FAR with characters, and character consoles are an order of magnitude faster than graphic applications. Furthermore, what's good about FAR is the console integration, and I believe that would be hard if not impossible to do...

Wow! Unicode support coming in 1.8? I'll try the alpha tomorrow.

I think the most important thing by far to add to FAR right now is Unicode support.

and add this to the registry

Code: Select all

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Far\Interface]
"UseVk_oem_x"=dword:00000001
Combined characters (áéíóú etc) now work perfectly, but dead key + space gives a space (it should be producing ´ or ¨).

(with shift), which works fine, although these characters are not used in Spanish words. The ' key, is u...

I think Unicode support in file names, the editor, etc. is essential for the future of FAR Manager.

I think being open source would greatly benefit the development and usage of FAR Manager; we would soon see projects to port it to Linux, better Unicode support, etc.

I personally find INI files much better than the Windows Registry, because they make applications easy to move, simpler to configure, and do not require a cumbersome/uncomfortable editor to edit. In fact, I don't think we ought to defend why INI files are better; I think others have to defend why th...
