Re: Auto-complete on shell?
i) Since tab is mapped to pane swapping, how can you auto-complete paths when typing on the Far command line? Use a filename completion plugin and set your own key bindings using macros. ii) Is it possible to see a shallow tree view without Far recursively building the entire thing? Not that I know...

No, 1.71 is continued to be developed at the moment as it is the main working version, and we use it ourselfs :) Would it be possible to make the source code for the 1.71 branch publicly available via SVN? I would like to be able to compile up-to-date builds for myself, since they are made availabl...

Your message was enough to help me find the culprit: the MagicISO shell extension (CLSID: {DB85C504-C730-49DD-BEC1-7B39C6103B7A}). Disabling this shell extension makes the problem go away completely. I guess there's some bug in this shell extension that causes FAR Manager to crash. Curiously, though...

Not sure where the proper place to report this is (for an English-language speaker), but: In recent unannounced builds of FAR Manager, the EMenu plugin often causes an instant crash if it is invoked while there are at least two items selected in the active panel, and EMenu is configured to Show comm...

Thanks for your reply. I didn't think it would be possible.
I've posted the suggestion here. Hope it gets considered, since I think it would be very useful, and probably not too difficult to implement.

Alert on completion of long operations
I find the Long operation beep feature in the FTP plug-in extremely useful. I would like to see this feature extended to FAR Manager itself, so that it can be used in conjunction with any long operation, including internal operations such as copying files. Like the FTP plug-in, the feature should al...

Writing a background plug-in to detect idle state
I want to create a plug-in that will perform an certain action (such as playing a sound file) whenever FAR Manager becomes idle after any long operation. The functionality would be similar to the way the current FTP plug-in can be made to beep after a long operation, but it would work in conjunction...

Ah, yes. I didn't originally realize that it was a Windows-Vista-specific problem, so it didn't occur to me to search for that. Thanks.
BTW, I see they're up to 2133.

Shift to override Recycle Bin setting during Delete
I would find it useful if it were possible to temporarily override the Delete to Recycle Bin setting by holding down the Shift key while initiating the delete operation. For example, if Delete to Recycle Bin is currently enabled, the user would be able to bypass the Recycle Bin by pressing Shift+F8 ...
