Re: Background search

I need (and I'm not alone) in a background search in Far - it can take a lot of time to find one file using AltF7 on whole disk - and Far is unusable during this search. Is there some plugin for it or some workaround? Hi IgorT75. Sometime ago I asked for a faster way to search in FAR and after that...

Well, I'll just copy the data using Copy + AdvComp and hope I won't need to do that again anytime soon. But it would be a nice feature for the future versions of FAR Manager. Have you tried Deep Compare instead of AdvComp I think it is better and it caches the compares so you don't need to compare ...

Maybe you could use the Windows Copy command with "/v" option or any other command line copy command that supports verify? It wont be as integrated in FAR but if you use the "F2 menu" it could be almost as good. I'll see what works best for me as I have always done a copy and the...

Hi pepak

Plugin CopyVFD seems to do that but it is for diskettes, maybe it works for USB drives too.

Update to macro

I have updated the macro to stop if anything other than the archive extract dialog is displayed after the macro presses ShiftF2.

I had a bad .RAR archive and the macro did not check for that.

jonib I don't really know what antivirus is used in our company - I just got this brief message with no more details and the file was not downloaded. An antivirus that a company uses is probably configured to be very restrictive and stops any file that uses "virus" like features such as l...

Hi nightroman FYI: my antivirus blocked the file ndff.exe, due to "one or two viruses found". What antivirus do you have? and did it say it suspected a virus or that it was a virus? I redownloaded ndff.exe from the link I posted and it is the same as the one I have downloaded a year ago th...

I agree with pepak - having a good folder hierarchy will do wonders - no amoung of indexing will do that. I also rarely have to use the search feature but even then I always use it on a specific set of folders, never entire hard drives, since I always know where a given file might be. It's always f...

New macro command $exec

Hi

I would like to suggest a new macro command:

Code: Select all

$exec "command"
That could be used to run internal or external commands within a macro.

I seem to always want to run some command from the macros I make so with this new command I would be able to do more with macros.

Re: Redating many RAR archives to latest file inside each RA

Hi DannyR49 Code snippet from my batch file: for %%i in ("*.zip") do C:\Utils\PkZip25.exe "%%i" -silent -zipdate=newest -del nul This seems to do what you want for %%i in ("*.rar") do C:\Utils\rar ch -tl -inul "%%i" -tl Set archive time to latest file -inul Di...
