I have 2315 as well (running on XP SP2), but I was able to find text in both binary and ASCII files. Is it possible one of your plugins is causing the problem?

One thing I forgot to ask before; does this mean there will be no more 1.71 builds? Is it only 1.80 now?

What did I expect? Nothing like this, that's for sure. I've been using virtually every "alpha" version of 1.71 and I rarely have any issues with them. I suspected this version would be similar.

Wow, I'm having all kinds of issues with this version. Is anyone else running into problems too?

It's still listed as build 2199 in the .hlf, but the .exe file is 3 days newer. I'll install that and see what happens, but since I can't duplicate this problem every time I don't know if I can say the new version fixed it.

build 2199? If so, I just downloaded a copy and will install it soon. But I wonder if it will help; I just re-scanned the drive, so there's a new Tree.Far file, and the "invisible" directory no longer exists. :unknown:

Missing folder name

I using FAR 1.71 build 2169 on a Dell desktop running XP SP2. I was trying to move a file and from the F6 prompt I hit F10 to show the Tree. One of the entries on the screen was blank. You could highlight it with the cursor, but there was no name displayed. This has happened to me on several occasio...

Okay, I see what you mean now. Maybe I'll try it that way sometime, but for now I'm just going to leave it as is. If it ain't broke don't fix it... :)

I don't know if using the plugins menu would make it simpler, but so far the macro works like I had expected it to so I'll probably stick to doing it that way.

I ended up adding this macro to KeyMacros\Shell: $If (APanel.Left) AltF1 0 AltShiftF12 $Exit $Else AltF2 0 AltShiftF12 $End

The new files seem to fix the first two problems I was having. Thanks for the update. :good: As far as the third problem is concerned... I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to have direct access to the temp panels from a file panel, but if that's the way it was designed then it's not a bug. Howeve...

Temporary panel problems?

I'm trying to use multiple temporary panels and I may have found a bug or two. I've gone over the Help many times, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong (but you can never be 100% certain). This is with FAR 1.71 alpha 4 build 2169. This first shot shows how I have temp panels configured. Notice ...

1,500 lines of Plugins Cache is easy to fix, but over 10,000 lines of colors?? And 3,500 lines of history?? My entire Farsave1.reg file is only 3,587 lines. You sure there isn't some crap in your file?

You guys have Farsave1.reg files with 20,000 or more lines?? My copy of Far -- with almost 2 dozen plug ins and a LOT of daily usage -- contains about 4,000 lines and is less then 150K. Perhaps it's time you cleaned out some of that unused crap, huh? :D
