And where in this thread do you see WinSCP mentioned? WinSCP is not an ftp client (at least no the current version of its Far plugin).

You probably use the Colorer plugin. It has its own color configuration, including editor background color.

gSpell should work without problems, but you need to install Office 97 dictionaries for it to work (you can find them on the internet).

They are both based on the idea behind Norton Commander, well almost all file managers are based on that idea but MC and Far also look like Norton.

By links you mean *.lnk files? Those have nothing in similar with linux links but there is a plugin that can do what you need. I think it's "Shell File and Folder link support".

Well Far has no such code that can cause it to stop when loosing focus, but I also can't imagine how pcAnyWhere can cause such a behaviour. I used Far remotly using many tools like VNC, telnet, Remote desktop and never seen such problem.

Yes the win98 fonts should work fine. heb-vga if I remember correctly is a dos resident and won't work in XP.
