Use Advanced Compare. It can do everything Compare Folders does, plus it allows 2sec precision and many other options.

I take it this suggestion/topic is dead, isn't it? I still think my "plugin" approach would solve it nicely for both sides of the issue :-( If somebody give me an injector intercepting Far calls registry calls It is my understanding that this is very nearly impossible to do from the outsi...

Re: Using FAR as IDE for Java & script programming

2) How to get compiler error stdout into Far window Type this command on FAR command line: far:edit <javac application.java to step through errors in source code editor? Don't know if there is a plugin for that. It should be reasonably simple to write one (parse the output to find line number, move...

Not to sound too ironic, but where is this fabled manual? I would be quite interested in such a thing, because even after years of using FAR I know there are areas which have eluded me. Sadly, all I have is TechInfo, WhatsNew and Help. The only one coming close to a manual is the Help, but it is far...

Thanks. Unimplemented GetOpenPluginInfo explains the first two issues. I don't need to worry about them right now then.

As for the third question: And could such a function be implemented? I would expect it to be at least as useful as CmpName().

TrueCryptExplorer for FAR

I am crrently trying to adapt OTFExplorer
to work as a FAR plugin. I expect it would be simple enough to get it to work as a MultiArc subplugin, but one reason I wanted to write it as a "full" plugin is that I want ...

It shouldn't be too difficult to write a plugin which would use either some relational database or possibly some fast data structure (e.g. hash tables or tries) for searching files. What would be difficult would be keeping the database (data structure) up to date. Personally, I find that a good orga...

I have no idea how to work with SVN and my knowledge of C is rather limited, but I think I should be able to fix such a (presumably) minor issue. I'll give it a try.

FTP plugin keeps asking for password

I am using the standard FTP plugin from FAR 1.70 (plugin says v1.9 in the Help) to connect to a FTP server. The site information is stored in the server list, but a password isn't (as the computer is accessed by other people, too), so I have to enter it each time I try to connect. So far no problems...

pepak Thanks. I'll try. You may need to check the contents of $userdata first - I am using phpBB which came with PhpNuke version 5.something, so I am pretty certain the actual variable names will be somewhat different (such as maybe $userdata['user_name'] instead of $userdata['uname']) - just use p...

Spam

The one simple solution to spammers that seems to work quite well is to modify the forum software to prevent posts with URLs if a user is either anonymous or has few posts (I use 3 and less). It is very easy to do and it does prevent most spam (I combine it with a list of banned words, such as certa...

Then argue that "There are more important things to do, such as ...". Not that everyone will agree with you all of a sudden, but at least it will be a valid argumentation and not irrelevant whining. Personally, I don't need either INI files or Unicode. Should I use your approach and whine ...

DrKnS, HaRT: Well, my FarSave is 5000 lines. So what? It may have escaped your notice, but all these questions about INI files consider such an approach to saving and loading FAR settings as an alternative , not a replacement . Why you are so set against it to repeat two rather irrelevant arguments...

Well, apparently nothing is going to change any time soon. But if there were to be any changes, I would prefer a "plugin" approach to the problem - simply export the saving and loading of values to a DLL file and let the user decide whether he wants to use a registry-accessing-DLL or INI-a...
