I can try using far /p again, but what about the duplicate entry? That can't be from a garbled Russian title too.

Well, that was tedious. But it was definitely worth a shot. Unfortunately, I didn't find the offending plugin. I did each of my plugins, including Far's own, one at a time like this: far /p "plugins\plugin_name" . Tried to recreate the error each time (on all 35 of them!). Far worked fine....

Plug-ins help problems

Far 1.70 on a Dell laptop running XP with SP2 My plug-ins help screen has a few problems. The first picture is what I get with shift-f2. Notice the first entry is all garbled, and there's a duplicate entry for the Registry Browser. Running ClearPluginsCache and restarting Far didn't change either o...

Troubleshooting plug-ins

I have a problem with a certain aspect of Far (1.70) that I can repeat 100% of the time when I load Far with plug-ins. When I run Far /p the problem goes away, so I need to find out where the problem lies. Unfortunately, I don't know how to go about determining which plug-in is causing the problem. ...

Okay, those are pre-release betas. I thought the original poster was referring to post 1.70 release.

on my far-installation the X was used as shortcut for the XLat function. i think you have the same problem. there two ways how to change this setting: 1.) use "system parameters editor"-plugin. on the hotkeys-handling-panel enter a new hotkey i.e. RWin. 2.) registry-editor: at HKEY_CURREN...

Um, it's right there in my original post: I'm using 1.70 on a machine running XP SP2.

The missing X key

Okay, here's a weird one: my X key seems to have stopped functioning. I'm using 1.70 on a machine running XP SP2, but this has been happening for a long time (and on machines running Win2K as well). When I try to type a capitol X in anything -- the dialogs for copy, move, make dir, etc -- I can't. S...

Find File display bug

Far 1.70 on a laptop running XP with SP2... I may have found a minor bug with the Find File function (alt-f7): If you set a filter (alt-e) as part of your criteria when you go to search for files the current directory name is no longer displayed at the very bottom of the Find File window while Far i...

I agree; it should stay text mode. There's dozens of GUI file managers, but only one FAR. I rather like it that way.

I 3rd that! I've been using Far for a long time now, and I find that there is very little it can't do. On every computer I use Far is one of the first things I load. And it's in my Startup group, so it's always available to me. But a version number of 1.70 just doesn't do it justice; for all the man...
