Using FAR as IDE for Java & script programming

Post by dokondr » Fri Jun 08, 2007 2:38 pm

Sorry, if this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find any guidelines on how to use FAR for program development.
How to:
1) Configure external tools such as compilers and interpreters to ran from Far internal editor?
2) How to get compiler error stdout into Far window to step through errors in source code editor?

Where to start looking for answers? Far plug-ins, macros, etc.?
Any good programming editor out there to use with Far?

Thanks for any info!

Type this command on FAR command line:

Code: Select all

far:edit <javac application.java
to step through errors in source code editor?
Don't know if there is a plugin for that. It should be reasonably simple to write one (parse the output to find line number, move the cursor to that line).

There are several plugins for this. I personaly use Colorer+[ESC]+Active-Help+MakeIt+BlockIndent+EditCase+EditCmpl and it perfectly suits my needs for an IDE in conjuction with the built in editor.
The MakeIt plugin is the one for compilation and error traversal in the editor.
Other plugins exist too, one that is quite popular and covers many areas is TrueTemplate.

Thanks! What is the best place to get all of them? Some doc on using plugins would help also ...
