Can't create archives with Far on Windows Vista.

You want to talk about Far Manager, but don't know where to turn?

Can't create archives with Far on Windows Vista.

Post by cdysthe » Mon Aug 13, 2007 7:43 am

Hi,

I wanted to create a rar archive using Far, but when I try to do so I get an error message saying "Can not find executable file 'Rar'. For zip I get the same error, but then the missing file is "pkzipc". I do have a registered version of WinRar installed, but that's obviously not enough. I tried moving rar.exe from the WinRar directory into the Far directory and it worked, but I wonder how this is supposed to be done on Windows Vista? In the Far docs it says you need to get the archiver executable in your path. I seem to remember doing that on XP, but I have no clue how to do it on Vista.
