Far Commander - silent install?

Post by temuri » Wed Jan 04, 2006 7:25 pm

Hi all,

Two questions:

1. Is there a switch for silent installation of Far Commander? Would be useful when creating custom/unattended WinXP CD...

2. Suppose I do these things:
a) I have FAR up&running and configured well;
b) I do settings backup using provided SaveSettings.bat (generate reg files);
c) Have a new Windows installed on another partition;
d) Copy folder /Program Files/Far from previous Windows into new Windows program files folder;
e) Import settings from backup files made in step b);

The question - would that be a properly installed Far Commander, identical to the one I had in the previous installation of Windows?

Thanks,
Temuri

Yes, that would be a proper way to do that.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

What about my first question? Will FAR ever support silent installation or answer files?

Best wishes,
Temuri

Probably, but any way you can just copy the contents of the install file to the destination and it will work.
